This document is provided for general information and to set out our practices. It is a template and is not legal advice. You should have it reviewed by a qualified lawyer in your jurisdiction before relying on it.

FanClub+ ("FanClub+", "we", "us", "our") operates an adults-only (18+) AI companion chat platform (the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect, why, how we use and share it, how long we keep it, and the rights you have. By using the Service you acknowledge the practices described here.

1. Who is responsible for your data

FanClub+ is the data controller for personal data processed through the Service. For privacy questions or to exercise your rights, contact us at support@fanclubplus.app.

2. Information we collect

Information you provide

Account details — first name, email address, and a password (passwords are hashed; we never see them in plain text).
Age confirmation — your confirmation that you are 18 or older.
Conversation content — the messages you send and receive, photo/voice requests, and preferences.
Memory notes — where enabled, short factual notes derived from your chats to personalise future conversations.
Support and reports — anything you send us or submit via the in-app report/help tools.

Information collected automatically

Usage data — messages sent, tokens spent, photos unlocked, features used, and timestamps.
Device & technical data — browser and device type, IP address, and approximate (country-level) location.
Security & moderation data — automated flags raised when a message trips our safety filters, stored for review.

Payment information

Payments are processed by our payment provider (e.g. Stripe). We receive confirmation of a purchase and limited transaction metadata, but we do not collect or store your full card number.

3. How we use your data and our legal bases

To provide the Service (deliver chats, photos, voice notes, maintain your token balance) — performance of our contract with you.
To personalise your experience (memory feature) — your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
To process payments and prevent fraud — contract and our legitimate interests.
To keep the Service safe (moderation, abuse detection, age-gating) — legitimate interests and legal obligations.
To contact you about your account (verification, password reset, important notices) — contract and legitimate interests.
To send optional marketing — only with your consent, and you can opt out any time.

4. AI processing — important

The companions are AI-generated personas, not real people. To generate replies, the content of your messages (and, where enabled, your memory notes) is sent to third-party AI model providers for processing. Where you choose voice notes, the text of a reply is sent to a voice-synthesis provider. Do not share information you would not want processed by these providers. Replies are automatically generated and may be inaccurate; the Service is for entertainment only.

5. Automated moderation

We use automated filters to detect content that may be harmful, illegal, or that targets minors, and to flag attempts to misuse the Service. Flagged messages (including the text involved) may be stored and reviewed by our team, and may lead to suspension or closure of an account. This is described further in our Usage Policy.

6. Who we share data with

We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with service providers needed to run the Service, under contracts requiring them to protect it:

Hosting, database & authentication (e.g. Supabase)
Payment processing (e.g. Stripe)
AI model providers for generating chat replies (e.g. Groq/OpenAI)
Voice synthesis for voice notes (e.g. ElevenLabs)
Email delivery for account and (optional) marketing emails

We may also disclose data where required by law, to enforce our terms, or to protect the rights, safety, and property of users or the public.

7. International transfers

Our providers may process data in countries outside your own, including the United States. Where data is transferred internationally, we rely on appropriate safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses) where required by law.

8. Data retention

We keep account data while your account is active. You can delete your account at any time from your profile, which removes your personal data from our active systems. We may retain limited data for longer where necessary for fraud prevention, safety, dispute resolution, or to comply with legal obligations (typically no more than 90 days for chat history after deletion, and longer for transaction records as required by law).

9. Your rights

Depending on where you live (including under UK/EU GDPR and the California CCPA/CPRA), you may have the right to access, correct, delete, port, or restrict processing of your data, to object to processing, and to withdraw consent. California residents have the right not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights, and we do not sell or "share" personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising. To exercise any right, email support@fanclubplus.app. You may also complain to your local data protection authority (in the UK, the ICO).

10. Security

We use encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed passwords, row-level access controls, and server-side handling of sensitive operations. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your data and will notify you and any regulator of a personal data breach where required by law.

11. Cookies & local storage

We use local storage and session storage to keep you signed in and remember your preferences. We do not use third-party advertising cookies or cross-site tracking.

12. Children

The Service is strictly for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If we learn that a minor has used the Service, we will close the account and delete the data. If you believe a minor is using the Service, contact us immediately.

13. Marketing communications

We only send marketing emails (such as offers or re-engagement messages) if you have not opted out. Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can opt out at any time. Account and safety messages are not marketing and may still be sent.

14. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the updated version here and, for significant changes, notify you by email or in-app. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised policy.
